"Granny's 7th Boy – 7¢ HERM #ONTHERISE"

So from that letter, we see that the Hermit isn’t your average artist. The depths in which he knows himself was evident before we even heard this EP. If you follow him on social media, you know that his grasp on himself, and who he is, bleeds daily through 140 character posts. Now, he’s been given a chance to put his interpretations of himself on wax, and he doesn’t disappoint. He truly conveyed his message eloquently, kept his honesty, kept his fearlessness, kept his intellect, his undoudabtle New Orleans rugged nature, and everything else that makes 7¢ Herm who he is.

When we get into ‘Granny’s 7th Boy’, we realize that from the jump Herm wanted to take us on a journey. We knew that 5 years down the line, when Herm is inevitably in a different position, he wanted fans to be able to revisit ‘Granny’s 7th Boy’, and put together dots that were strategically setup to live beyond its current existence. It’s one of those projects that will have a lineage, and as fans of the Hermit Crab, we’re just as excited as anyone else to see how he builds on it. You can check out ‘Granny’s 7th Boy’ in its entirety on SoundCloud below, and if you’re in New Orleans on July 1st, catch 7¢ Herm’s release party in The Den at Howlin Wolf. - SHAQ COSSE, The Source

"7¢ HERM presents Granny’s 7th Boy – EP"

7¢ HERM of New Orleans returns with a brand new project and it’s a relaxed EP with features and production that compliment Herm’s rapping. It’s a somber, pure and unadulterated rap project that showcases Herm and his wordplay at the best of his ability. It doesn’t go out of its comfort zone of showing anything other than Herm and his features and how they can demolish a track eight times in a row. Granny’s 7th Boy is a fulfilling project all across the board. - Terrence Sage, Dead End Hip-Hop

"7¢ HERM FT MADEGROCERIES – “7 FEET BELOW” | @7CENTHERM |"

New Orleans native 7¢ HERM connects with super group MadeGROCERIES to bring you the music video for “7 Feet Below”

Found on the “Granny’s 7th Boy” EP, the visual was shot and directed by Writers Bloc Productions. As everyone is just getting back into the groove of school, 7¢ HERM and MadeGROCERIES explore a day in the life of troublesome high school students who have a knack for being sent to detention.

Watch as these Louisiana natives flood the school with jazzy tunes, insightful lyrics and mischief. They’re here to tear the current school system down. As New Orleanians, we face many challenges on the route to happiness. We’re here to remind you to stay afloat when the water rises and to never sink below the surface. - Barry, TripleHQ

"7¢ Herm Drops Off "7 Feet Below" Visual Feat. MadeGroceries (Dir. by Writers Bloc Productions)"

When I was first gifted with 7¢ Herm's most recent effort, 'Granny's 7th Boy', I knew that I had to share words about it, and that I did, in an On The Rise segment on The Source Magazine. Thought provoking lyrics, matched with authentic New Orleans street rhymes, storytelling on a grand scale, and so many more commendable attributes that Herm poured into, 'Granny's 7th Boy'. Standout track, "7 Feet Below" features likeminded creatures, MadeGroceries, and although the song stands firmly on its own two, this new visual, directed by Writers Bloc Productions, gives the track new life, and takes us on a nostalgic journey of Herm, GroceryBoys, with the assistance of the members of Excuse The Rant.

When you sit with a project like, 'Granny's 7th Boy', then you adopt a track from it like "7 Feet Below", as you listen, pictures, and visuals come to your head, based on how the track feels. Jose, the wizard behind WBP, captures these flashes of ideas, and turns them into what you see here in the motion picture for "7 Feet Below". It's what he does, it's what he's been doing, and it's what he continues to get better at.

Not to be outdone by the guy behind the camera, 7¢ Herm, MadeGroceries, and ETR showed that their talents expand far behind their exceptional vocal ability, rhyme patterns, and storytelling. They showed that they are equally talented onscreen actors, and that they could effectively convey their message through body language, and theatrics. Those abilities, combined with the brilliance that is "7 Feet Below" as a song, makes for a timeless video, one that will undoubtably launch all parties involved into a new season of prosperity in their fields. - Shaq Cosse, FuelTheKulture

"Essence Fest Weekend Recap: Granny's 7th Boy, Spike Lee, and The Revolution"

Not my busiest Essence weekend but definitely a unique one. Over the weekend I got to work with my guy Herm with his brand new EP Granny's 7th Boy release party (Presented by Soundclash NOLA). The turnout was great, the crowd was interactive, and really showed love for my guy! Radioshaq, Made Groceries, Cashmoney Chip, and many more was also in the building... - William Berrios, FuelTheKulture

Bio

7¢ HERM is a rapper and songwriter from the 7th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. He's the hermit and self-proclaimed "intergalactic pirate growing gardens in the bayou". The '94 bayou-born emcee is a positive voice in a city where vices and wrongdoings control the youth. 7¢ HERM aims to bring New Orleans back to the top of the totem in hip-hop and prove to the world that the city has more to offer than being the "murder capital".

His rapping career began in 2014 under the moniker "Hermi7 Khalfani". As Hermi7 Khalfani, 7¢ HERM released his debut LP, "Deaf + Blind" with his local rap collective, 7ARC (7¢ HERMCashMoneyChip & in-house producer SUMO), to some regional success. Soon after it's release, 7¢ HERM took a 3-year hiatus from music to focus on personal growth; however, he began to release promotional singles via SoundCloud & BandCamp again in late-2016.

In Early 2017 (after a stage name change) the hermit dropped singles "7 Feet Below" & "Zimmer's" leading up to June of 2017, when 7¢ HERM released his latest EP, "Granny's 7th Boy" available on all streaming platforms (Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify...etc). The EP was met with positive reviews and much regional success, even garnering attention from national publications such as The Source & Dead End Hip-Hop. Following the success of the EP, 7¢ HERM released videos for "7 Feet Below" featuring New Orleans-based rap group, MadeGROCERIES & "Zimmer's" featuring 7ARC rapper, CashMoneyChip.

7¢ HERM is currently working on his 2nd EP of 2017.
